The Abbeyfield Solent Society Ltd is a registered charity specialising in accommodation for the active elderly wishing to reside within the boundaries of Havant to Cosham and on Portsea Island from Hilsea to Southsea.

The Abbeyfield Solent Society Ltd is an independent charity but part of the nationwide The Abbeyfield Society Ltd who set standards of excellence that we strictly adhere to.

Our aim is to assist people to live independent lives for as long as possible within a secure and caring environment.

Our accommodation and service comprises of spacious private rooms, a dinner and high tea taken communally in the dining room managed by a housekeeper who lives and sleeps within each house and is employed for 38 hours per week.  A relief housekeeper also sleeps in during holidays and housekeepers time off.  Abbeyfield Solent is often spoke about as being a half way house between your own home and a care/nursing home.

As you will see from the house photographs our properties are located in large family houses, we insist on being a home from home that is far removed from institutional care.
The vast majority of residents move into a newly refurbished room with their own furniture and possessions, we have a small stock of furniture for those who wish to try residency before committing fully.

The calendar monthly charges vary from house to house but are generally around £890.00 per month (£205.38 per week) this includes all utilities, dinner and tea, maintenance and housekeeper costs. A resident only needs sufficient money to pay for breakfast and personal expenses in addition to the monthly charge.  Housing benefit is available where appropriate and our trustee for resident finance will be delighted to undertake a financial health check to ensure you get any and all benefits available to the elderly.

Abbeyfield Solent Society Ltd is managed by volunteer trustees who assist paid professional staff in looking after the elderly.  We constantly seek community minded volunteers with expertise in a wide range of skills to help ensure the happiness and continuity of independent lives for our residents, if that is you please contact us we would love to hear about you.
